General Information
Come out and join us on Sunday, August 10, 2008 for the 20th
Annual Leesburg 10K and 5th Annual 20K in scenic Loudoun
County,
Virginia! Perhaps you'll meet up with a bovine companion along
the way as you run through historic downtown Leesburg and along
the W&OD trail. Baby joggers and strollers are not permitted
on the course as they are a safety hazard on the W&OD
trail. The race features several unique amenities,
including technical T-shirts with a new design for the 20th anniversary race, a great post-race brunch with ice
cream for all (thanks to title sponsor Harris Teeter), a live
band, and numerous awards and random prizes! The race is sponsored by Harris Teeter and organized by the
YMCA Loudoun County. The YMCA Loudoun County has added a 20K race to complement the
existing 10K and offer runners the opportunity to test their
fitness and stamina before beginning their training for a fall
marathon. Or, perhaps you have never run a 20K and want to set
a new PR! Either way, come out and run with us. Both races will
start and finish at the same place and same starting time (7:30
AM) The courses run through town and access the W&OD Trail
from King Street, travelling west. The courses diverge as 10K
runners turn around and head back to town just past the former
access
road from Dry Mill Road, with 20K runners continuing on before
returning to town on the trail. See
photos of the 20K portion of the course. Location & Time: Both races will take place on Sunday,
August 10, 2008 at historic Market Station at 203 Harrison
Street SE, 20175 in downtown Leesburg, Virginia.

will begin promptly at 7:30 am.

Both races will be scored with the
ChronoTrack race timing system. All participants are required
to attach the D-tag to their shoe. The ChronoTrack system
calculates your individual time from the time you cross
the starting line (rather than when the clock starts running)
to the time you cross the finish line, resulting in a net
or "Tag" time for participants. Overall awards will be based
on "clock" time and age group awards will be based on "Tag" or
net time. The registration fee includes the rental cost of the
ChronoTrack. For optimal performance, the D-tag must be attached to the shoe
in the proper manner. For instructions on properly using the
D-tag, please
