Join the Plaza America family of stores and businesses in Reston, VA, for the fourth annual Plaza America Family 5K Run/Walk! Sponsored by Atlantic Realty Companies, all proceeds from the race will be donated to Children's National Medical Center. The 5K run/walk will also be accompanied by a kids fun run, so bring the whole family out to take part in this fun family event!

New Date in 2006! The race will take place on Sunday, May 14, 2006, at 8:30 am at Plaza America, 11700 Sunset Hills Road in Reston, Virginia. The course will take participants through the gently rolling hills of the Reston countryside. Cash prizes totaling $2,000 will be awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers as well as to the first male and female Reston residents. The top two male and female finishers in five-year age groups will also receive awards.

Post-race festivities include drawings for random prizes, food and refreshments, music, and lots of fun! Refreshments will be provided by Fresh Fields, Starbucks, Panera, Vie de France, CVS, Baja Fresh, Primo Italiano, and others!

There will also be a non-competitive fun run just for kids! The fun run will begin after the 5K is finished, approximately 9:15 am. Everyone is a winner! Medals will be awarded to all fun run finishers!

The ChampionChip timing system will be used to score the 5K race. The system uses a computer "Chip" which must be tied to runners' shoe laces, and records the exact time a runner crosses the starting line as well as the finish line, resulting in a net, or "Chip" time for each runner. Overall awards will be based on the "clock time," and age group awards will be based on "Chip time." The $2 chip rental fee is included in your entry fee. Collection buckets for rental chips will be provided in the finish area immediately following the race. ChampionChip owners may deduct $2 from the entry fee for this and other Capital Running Company ChampionChip races by providing their 7-character personal Chip number on the registration form. You may also purchase your own ChampionChip for $35.

Please note: Skates, pets, and headphones are prohibited on the 5K course. Walkers with strollers or baby joggers are welcome, but we ask that you line up in the back of the pack and be careful of the people around you. No refunds will be given. No confirmations will be sent; to confirm your entry, please check the list of registered runners a week or so before race day. Please pick up your t-shirt on race day, as we cannot mail it to you.
