For the Washington Running Report

Here they come; running down the streets.

Photos below

  1. They both got the same $100 but Kyle Smits (#78) of Baltimore, MD wanted that ninth overall spot a little more than Jake Klim (#26) of North Bethesda, MD. Smits won by two seconds in 31:28.

  2. Runner-up Olga Romanova (26) of Germantown, MD is surrounded by old guys, three in front and three trailing right behind. Her 33:46 is the ninth fastest time and would have won half of all the past races.

  3. Bert Rodriguez (27) of Arlington, VA cashed in on a division win with a flashy 32:02.

Photos below

  1. Believe it of not, Rick Platt (56) of Williamsburg, VA improved on his Virginia State record time of 35:31 set earlier in the month and still he is not satisfied. His 35:21 time might have been even faster if not for some calf cramps late in the race and it only earned him the unaccustomed second spot in the division.

  2. Jeannette Lussi (44) of Kensington, MD dances her way to the finish in 43:52.

  3. 17th place Matias Palavecino (25) of Washington, DC races home in 32:40 just a second ahead of sub masters winner Rob Magin (36) of Olney, MD and masters champion Dock Mock (40) of Bowie, MD.

Photos below

  1. Carol Kasunic (45) of Germantown, MD started in the second wave and still netted a second place division win in 41:21.

  2. Rarely seen, Richard Morgan (55) of Silver Spring, MD is stopping his watch after he has crossed the finish. In the competitive field his 38:36 netted him 100th male and ninth in his age group.

  3. The whole Lang family races. Today RRCA Representative Phil Lang was the cheerleader for his wife Vicki who earned second sub masters with 38:50. Daughter Tiffany (13) also netted second in her division with 45:24.
