For the Washington Running Report

In photo above, you just cannot tell from this picture who won. It was Mark Hoon (42) of Kensington, MD by a fraction of a second against Darrell General (41) of Cheverly, MD in 33:49. They earned the two top spots in their division.

Photos below

  1. Just 20-years-old Teyba Nasir of Washington, Dc is the sixth of seven women to break 36:00 with an excellent 35:40.

  2. Marybeth Lennox (#3329) of Rockville, MD is just about to overtake James Cooney (#2587) of Rockville, MD as he presses for home.

  3. The men, Richard Carlisle (#217) of Springfield, VA and Radmil Elkis (#939) of New Market, MD, veered apart as Jennifer Hughes (#3386) of Rockville, MD squeezed through for the sixth spot in the sub masters division. Lurking right behind her Jeanne Grillo (#2897) of Potomac, MD pounced forward for the third spot in the 45-49 division.

Photos below

  1. Gliding home like royalty Debra O'Connell (#1804) of Bethesda, MD does not seem to know that she has drawn a crowd.

  2. Douglas Dunlop (53) of Potomac, MD started in one of the later waves, netting 45:27. Margaret Davis (55) of Vienna, VA had started ahead of him. Her net time of 47:32 earned her second her division.

  3. Beverly Black (46) of Boonsboro, MD is back after a layoff and just misses the awards stand by two seconds and one place with a net 43:50.

Photos below

  1. Long and lean, John Bitok (27) of Baltimore, MD seems unaware that two runners are right behind him gunning for the third overall spot. He ran 30:11.

  2. Kelly Baker (24) of Beltsville, MD netted a second place award with 40:15.

  3. David Haaga (45) of Rockville, MD crashed across the line in 33:34 to win his division with four masters racers following in the next fifteen seconds.
