1. The elite women started fifteen minutes early. Ninth place Kathy Butler (33) from Great Britain finished in 1:17:17 just after the clock is changed for the rest of the field.


2. Tom Nyariki (36) from Kenya is third overall 1:02:30 is more than a minute faster than the current 35-39 Virginia State record of 1:03:36 set by Reuben Chesang when he lost a photo finish at the Hampton Coliseum in February 1999.
