Information
Start the New Year right--with a run! Join us on
Thursday, January 1, 2009, in Leesburg, Virginia, for the
Twelfth Annual Rotary Resolution Race! The George C. Marshall
10K will
take participants through the rolling hills of the Morven Park
Estate. The John R. Diedrich 4K Fun Run/Walk will take
participants to the Morven Park mansion. This is the only day
of
the year that Morven Park is open to runners. Come demonstrate
your commitment to your New Year's Resolution to exercise! Make
it a family tradition!Location & Time: Participants should gather at the Ida
Lee Park Recreation Center, located just north of downtown
Leesburg, off of Route 15. The 4K Run/Walk begins promptly at
10:25 am and the 10K will start at 10:40 am. Awards will be given in standard five-year
age groups. Long-sleeve T-shirts will be given to all
registered
participants in lieu of the option to purchase a race
sweatshirt. For your convenience, a second on-site registration
and packet pick-up location has been added at the Potomac River
Running store! Shop for your favorite gear and shoes while
registering for a great race. See the Registration or Packet
Pick-up page for details. ChampionChip: The ChampionChip timing system will be
used
to score the 10K race. The system uses a computer "Chip" which
must be tied to runners' shoe laces, and records the exact time
a runner crosses the starting line as well as the finish line,
resulting in a net, or "Chip" time for each runner. Overall
awards will be based on the "clock time," and age group awards
will be based on "Chip time." The chip rental fee is included
in your entry fee, or you can purchase your own personal chip
and deduct $2 from the entry fee for this race and other
Capital
Running Company ChampionChip races. Please note: Strollers, baby-joggers, skates, pets, and
headphones are prohibited on the course, parts of which are
grass and gravel. No refunds. Please pick up your t-shirt on
race day, as we cannot mail it to you. To confirm your entry,
check the list of registrants, to be posted on this site, a
week
or so before race day. Additional information: For additional information, call
the race director, Chuck Maloney, at (703) 779-1912.
