  • The Montgomery County Road Runners Club will no longer sponsor the Rockville Rotary Twilight Runfest, a mid-July 8k road race. The number of finishers hit a recent low of 1,269 in 2015, capping off four years of decline, the steepest coming after the 2013 race was cancelled because of a looming thunderstorm. The City of Rockville is planning to continue the race and DARCARS will remain the title sponsor.

  • The Georgetown Running Club signed a sponsorship deal with Pacers Running and New Balance. The club, once part of the Georgetown Running Company, formally incorporated in 2012.

  • Catholic University has hired Ian Hankins to as its head men’s cross country and track and field coach. Hankins, a St. John’s College High School alumnus, previously coached at Potomac State College (W.V.).
  • Run Free: The True Story of Caballo Blanco, will play Feb. 17 at the Arlington Cinema Drafthouse, sponsored by the D.C. Road Runners. The film won the 2015 Spotlight Documentary Award and profiles the ultrarunner featured in Born to Run.
