Runners of all ages receive a teddy bear when they cross the finish line in this Race to Give Every Child a Strong Start. Proceeds keep the high-quality Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center preschool affordable and accessible to children from low-income working families, preparing them to be ready for success in school and in life.
This year, a morning event, 5K at 8 am, 1K at 9:15 am, after prizes are awarded to 5K winners.
Meet on field behind Children’s Center, 7230 Idylwood Rd, Falls Church, to join in the Teddy Bear Parade to Pimmit Hills Park, start/finish. Run thru shaded Pimmit Hills neighborhood to Olney Park and back. 1K starts on Children’s Center field.
Prices: 5K-$35, 1K-$20 until 8 pm Friday, Sept. 21, when online registration closes; 5K-$40, 1K-$25 at Packet Pick, 10 am – 2 pm, at the Children’s Center, 7230 Idylwood Rd, Falls Church, and Race Day on the field behind the Center, 7:15 -7:45 am.
Children under 12 must be accompanied by a registered adult.

Ironistic and Hudson Studio are proud to co-host the 11th Annual RUN! GEEK! RUN! 5K, on September 23, 2018, gun time at 8:30am. The start/finish line is tucked between the George Washington Middle School and Braddock Metro stop. All proceeds from the 2018 RUN! GEEK! RUN! will go directly to support the Alexandria Seaport Foundation. The Alexandria Seaport Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization which improves the lives of young people through adult mentoring, project-based learning and the craft of wooden boat building. ASF provides the educational, career and life skills necessary for young people to secure and maintain employment and become productive members of their communities.
The 2018 course is a 5K and will start and finish at the south end of Main Line Boulevard circle in Alexandria, VA 22301. We’re a hop, skip, and a jump from the Braddock Road Metro.
Parking will be located at the George Washington Middle School parking lot, conveniently near the race’s start/finish line.

Join Arts on the Horizon in Fort Hunt Park as we host our very first 5K Fun Run/Walk and 1k Kids Dash!
Meet us at 7:30am on Saturday, September 29th for some family-friendly fun. A pre-run warm-up will be lead by Fitness on the Run!
Families are invited to run or walk to support Arts on the Horizon’s arts education programs and performances. In addition to the race, we will have activities throughout the morning to offer fun ways to show your support. Some of these activities include free post race massages, free photo booth, craft tables and balloon animals for kids, t-shirts, kids’ finisher medals, and post race refreshments.

The 11th annual Wildcat 5K and Family Fun Run on Saturday, September 29 is a great way to start the fall running season in Northern Virginia.
5K Race times will be professionally provided by RaceWire.
Start times: 8:30AM-5K / 8:35AM – FAMILY FUN RUN
The 5K course is shady and scenic, going through gently rolling hills in McLean, VA. The half-mile Family Fun Run takes runners around Saint Luke Catholic Church and Saint Luke Catholic School, and then across the finish line, where they are awarded with commemorative finisher medals.
Fees: 5K – $30.00; Half-Mile Family Fun Run (ages 3 & Up) – $16
(Note: Onsite registration fees will be $40 for the 5K and $18 for the Family Fun Run)

13TH ANNUAL ‘BOO! RUN’ SET FOR SEPTEMBER 30TH IN DC
The Boo! 10K Run and 2-mile Tidal Basin walk will take place on Sunday, September 30, 2018 in West Potomac Park in Washington, DC. The event, now in its 13th year, benefits the Dean R. O’Neill Renal Cell Cancer Research Fund at the Foundation for National Institutes of Health (FNIH).
The Boo! 10K Run is an great training run for the big races later in the fall. Enjoy a scenic run along the Potomac River on a fast and flat course.

The Spook Hill Cider & Wine 4 Mile Run starts at 8:30 a.m. and utilizes a unique mix of road and cross country terrain. Participants will run (or walk) through historic Burkittsville, up the slight incline of Spook Hill into the Boordy Vineyards’ South Mountain vineyard, through historic Union Cemetery, and the Distillery Lane Ciderworks’ (DLC) orchard. There are always plenty of wine-themed door prizes and your race premium is an event wine glass and a tee shirt. Post-run, you’ll be able to taste (and purchase) Boordy wine and DLC hard ciders without getting in your car. For those looking for the opportunity to spend a scenic autumn day in the country, you can explore the Spook Hill Wine Trail and visit more participating wineries, all of whom will be offering our participants special deals on race day!

The James Madison High School Band will be hosting the 16th Annual Vienna Turkey Trot 5K/10K and Kids’ Fun Run on Sunday, November 18, 2018. The 5K and 10K, which kick off at 8:30 am, are run on USTAF certified courses. Parents do not need to register to run with their children in the Kids’ Fun Run, which starts at 8:00 am.
All proceeds benefit the JMHS “Pride of Vienna” Band and the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department. Join us for a great run, super music, fun prizes, refreshments after the race and the Finish Line Festival!
