The University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center’s Maryland Half Marathon & 5K Run/Walk is celebrating 13 years of “Changing Lives One Mile at a Time” by supporting research that benefits countless patients and their families. This year’s virtual event will take place on Saturday, May 8, 2021, with participants walking or running in their neighborhoods or communities. The Maryland Half Marathon & 5K Run/Walk has raised more than $5 million for cancer research with 100 percent of the net proceeds benefitting the University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The event gives participants an opportunity to participate and help in the fight against cancer by offering a half marathon, 5K run/walk or the option to simply fundraise. All Half Marathon & 5K Run/Walk participants will receive a customizable fundraising page, race T-shirt and an electronic bib to self-print. Virtual Half Marathon is 13.1 miles, and the virtual 5K Run/Walk is 3.1 miles, with participants walking or running in their neighborhoods and communities. Participants can run their virtual race any time through Monday, May 10 and submit their results.
