>>The registration window has opened for the Marine Corps Marathon lottery until noon on March 15. Fast sellouts and a registration system overload led to the reintroduction of a lottery system.

>>Chantilly alumnus and Stanford freshman Sean McGorty won the junior division at the USA Cross Country Championships Feb. 15 in Boulder, Colo. and the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletics Association Junior Cross Country Championships Feb. 22 in Mt. Irvine, Tobago.
>>RoadRunner Sports is opening locations in Rockville, Md. and Sterling, Va. March 1.
>>Serena Burla of Falls Church won the USATF Half Marathon Championships Jan. 19 in Houston, headlining the performances of four local runners at the race. Behind Burla’s 1:10:48 winning time, D.C. resident Beth Young finished 42nd in 1:17:18, one spot ahead of 2012 Navy Half Marathon champion Shannon Miller, now of New York.
