  • A consortium of bicycle advocacy groups, Arlington County and Alexandria City met with the George Washington Memorial Parkway management to address the need to clear snow and ice from the Mount Vernon Trail to aid commuting. Though additional funding for snow removal was unlikely, parkway management is soliciting help identifying critical points in people’s commutes between Virginia and D.C. Comments are being accepted through March 2 and can be posted on Bike Arlington’s forum here.
  •  The Spin in the Woods 8k has moved to April 9, it was previously April 10.
  • The Run Aware 5k has moved to May 15 from its original date, May. 8.
  • Loudoun Valley senior Drew Hunter was named Gatorade Player of the Year (sic) for the 2016 cross country season. In addition to his fall exploits, which included going undefeated on his way to winning the Foot Locker Cross Country Championship, Hunter ran 3:57.81 for the mile at the Millrose Games Feb., breaking his own high school indoor mile record, set two weeks prior.
