- The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the reported assault of a female runner in the Lansdowne area early Sept. 24.The victim was running in the area of Riverside Parkway and Kipheart Drive at around 5:45 a.m. she was assaulted by an unknown male. The suspect tackled the woman to the ground. She was able to fight off the male and run to a passerby who drove her home. She then reported the incident to authorities.The suspect is described as a black male, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, possibly grey, with the hood up. He was also wearing possible khaki pants. He fled the area on foot towards the Lansdowne Town Center.Anyone with any information regarding this case is asked to call the Detective C. Cunningham of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 703-777-0475.

- Two local ultramarathoners, Michael Wardian and Bobby Gill, are among six male finalists in the Runner’s World cover contest from among 1,600 entrants. The winner, announced Oct. 29, will be featured on the December 2015 issue cover with the winning woman. Read about the finalists here.
