Van Metre 5M is Back Again for the 18th Time

The Van Metre Companies in Burke, Virginia announces the date of the 18thAnnual Van Metre 5 Mile Run for Children’s Hospital.
The race takes place on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Broadlands Marketplace located in Ashburn, Virginia in Loudoun County.
The race, which has been held annually for the last 17 years, benefits the Center for Heart, Lung and Kidney Disease at the Children’s National Medical Center. Van Metre Companies expects between 750 – 1000 runners and hopes to raise $100,000 this year for Children’s Hospital. The Van Metre Companies have raised 2.3 million dollars over the years for Children’s Hospital with this race. In addition to the 5 mile run, there is a 1 mile fun run/walk where every child who crosses the finish line receives a medal! The 5 mile course is interesting and meanders through the beautiful neighborhoods of Broadlands.
“Come out for a great event the first Saturday in March to support Children’s Hospital. The best part of our race is the post race awards ceremony where race winners and sponsors are acknowledged and terrific door prizes are given away. This is a great early spring event and enjoyed by all who attend,” said Candy McCracken, race director.
