The following races were chosen for the runner rankings based on their certified courses, reputation for sound management and competitiveness. To see baseline pace for races, please click here.
Races are selected by RunWashington at the beginning of the season; we choose approximately 100 races a year to be a ranked race based on the following criteria: event organization, competitiveness, schedule, value to DC running calendar, results access, proximity to Washington, D.C. and other factors. All races must be on certified courses and must be electronically timed. Only races 5k-half marathon in the DC metro area will be considered. To have your race considered for the 2014 season, email [email protected]. Selections will be announced at the end of 2013.
*ATTENTION RUNNERS: Both the AIDS Walk 5K and the Race to End Women’s Cancer 8K are no longer considered ranked races as both events independently chose not to collect age and sex data during their registration since they were not doing age group awards.
