Come out and enjoy this scenic, flat 5k in the heart of Georgetown near the Nation’s Capital.  The 5k runs on the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal path.

Charity Information

HBI provides free overall health education to include infectious diseases, health screening in addition to linkage to care to underserved and high-risk communities in DC, Virginia and Maryland. We provide these services free of charge. This run is being organized to support the overall HBI operations in support of eliminating barriers and access to care for the communities we serve.

HBI Mission Statement

HBI’s uniquely diverse community health workers and screening team, eliminates barriers for underserved communities and builds trust by providing culturally appropriate education and resource navigation. HBI is the bridge for underserved communities from health education and screening to receiving sustainable care.

HBI was initially founded as the Hepatitis B Initiative in 1997 and received its 501(c)3 nonprofit status in 2006. HBI provides free overall health education to include infectious diseases and health screening and linkage to care for the underserved and high-risk communities throughout the Washington, DC – Baltimore, MD metropolitan areas.

Since 2006, HBI has provided in-person education to over 38,841 individuals and screened over 20,465 at-risk individuals for hepatitis B.  Since 2013, HBI has screened over 15,033 individuals at risk for hepatitis C. HBI has also screened over 3,534 individuals for HIV since 2016.

5k – 9:30am

Registration Fees

5k – $35, until November 15 ($40)

***Price will increase on race morning by $5 for each distance

T-shirts guaranteed to runners registered before November 21.  We will order extra t-shirts for those who register after that date, but it is on a first-come first-served basis.
